The Mxit Story is a documentary chronicling the rise of Mxit, South Africa’s pioneering mobile social network and one of the country’s most influential technology companies.

Developed during my time at Mxit / World of Avatar, the project was commissioned with a highly compressed production schedule which required the documentary to be researched, filmed, edited, and delivered within 30 days.

Combining interviews, archival material, and original footage, the documentary preserves the story of a platform that helped shape mobile communication long before smartphones became mainstream.

The film premiered at a company-wide screening and was warmly received by employees, reflecting its success in documenting and celebrating the organisation’s history and culture.
