Dancing in Other Words documents the 2013 Dansende Digters Festival, an international poetry gathering curated by renowned South African poet, writer, and painter Breyten Breytenbach and hosted at Spier Wine Estate near Stellenbosch.

Filmed over several days, the documentary captures performances, conversations, and moments of collaboration between internationally recognised poets exploring themes of language, identity, memory, and cultural exchange. The film culminates in a final evening of poetry, music, and celebration.

Produced as a cultural documentary, the project preserves a unique creative encounter between artists from around the world and documents an important moment in South Africa’s literary landscape.
